Energy Efficient Chiller Terminology, Ratings, and the Energy Code

Abstract:
This presentation will review terminology such as NPLV, IPLV, COP, and kW/Ton. It will compare the most energy efficient chillers vs. the least efficient. It will also briefly review the current Washington State Energy requirements for chillers.

Bio:
Greg is a 3rd generation HVACR member growing up around the business with over 40 years in the business. His grandfather was a refrigeration mechanic for large compressors, his father was refrigeration service tech, his uncle a mechanical engineer, and his wife was a controls engineer. He was taught HVACR for over 34 years at community colleges in Washington State. He has been at Wenatchee Valley College for 31 years. He has also worked for Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, and Alerton controls as a technician, engineer, and project manager.
He has a BS in Industrial Technology from CMSU in Missouri, and a Masters from WSU at Pullman. He has been the acting Student Branch Advisor for the past 10 years for the Mid-Columbia ASHRAE Chapter. Greg is active in professional associations including ASHRAE, RETA, and the NWFPA. He also does energy consulting and training for public utilities and private businesses.
His greatest pride is his activities in his church and with his family. He has been married for 33 years, has 4 grown children, and 4 grandkids.
